Note: The weather information on this page is taken from data collected at the Woodley Island station of the National Weather Service. Runners will actually pass this station less than 2 miles from the finish line!
Average wind speed at 8 AM is 4 MPH, rising slightly by 11 AM to 7 MPH.
Winds are typically light and out of the north or northwest. This will be at the runners' backs for most of the second half of the marathon course (and most of the half marathon course). This is also the most exposed section down the Samoa peninsula between the bay and ocean and then across the bridges into Eureka. The first half of the course is more inland and sheltered.
