August 10, 2025 - Join us for the 10th Running

We are excited to announce that the 2025 Humboldt Bay Marathon has been selected as the RRCA California State Championship Marathon!

Humboldt Bay Marathon is a nonprofit affiliate of the Road Runners Club of America.  Our goals are to promote fitness, outdoor recreation and trails in Humboldt County. Whether you are striving for another personal record or just looking for a uniquely beautiful place to run, the Humboldt Bay Marathon, Half Marathon and BeerMile races are exactly what you're looking for!

Road Closures

REVISED for new Course 2024!

  • This year's races will be almost entirely along the Eureka Waterfront Trail, but the start of both the marathon and half marathon will have an extra segment on 2nd Street between F Street and M Street. Between 7 AM and 7:15 and again from 8 AM to 8:15, 2nd Street will be closed to vehicles between F and M Streets, and there will be brief delays for anyone needing to cross 2nd street.
  • After 8:15 AM, traffic control will be limited to flaggers at the following road crossings (all within the City of Eureka):
  • All traffic control will be in place from 7 AM until the last runner passes, but no later than 3 PM
  • - Waterfront Drive entrance to Boat Ramp (under the bridge)
  • - 1st Street and C Street
  • - Waterfront Drive and Commercial
  • - Waterfront Drive and Washinton
  • - Waterfront Drive Trail Crossing between Washington and 14th
  • - Del Norte and Waterfront Drive
  • - Truesdale Trail Crossing (west end of Truesdale)
  • We have created Humboldt Bay Marathon as an organization dedicated to promoting and supporting trails and outdoor recreation in Humboldt County. We graciously ask that you be supportive and patient with the impact on traffic. Thank you!
  • For questions, please contact Rich Baker: cdirector@humboldtbaymarathon.com
  • The safety of our runners and our volunteers is our first priority. Wherever the race course crosses a road, a flagger will be stationed to control vehicle traffic and allow runners to safely cross.

Сustom artwork on all of our medals and shirts

We have commissioned local artist (and runner!) Sara Starr to do the artwork for our shirts and medals. Read more...

“The art symbolizes several things I love about Humboldt Bay. I have run or biked many parts of this marathon route, including the windy road from Sunnybrae to Freshwater, the redwood forest paths and hills of Arcata Community Forest, the Samoa Bridge, and the streets of Old Town Eureka...”
